LID is Low Impact Development. As land is developed, stormwater can create serious and unsightly issues around homes and on properties. Low Impact Development (LID) employs techniques that allow stormwater management in ways that replicate nature’s methods of dealing with rain water and runoff.
LID can be used to efficiently manage stormwater based on simple principles such as treating runoff as close to the source as possible, allowing rain water to infiltrate the ground, and creating planted areas which retain, filter and support plant growth. Best of all, most of these solutions are extremely cost effective to install and maintain.
