Client: DOT & City of Wasilla

Lead landscape architect on a team providing concepts and design recommendations for intersections and locations as part of the road realignment. Site lines, restoration to the abandoned roadbed, pedestrian amenities and connection to existing recreational and educational facilities were considered. Design options included treatment of stormwater and land use options. Concepts for recommended site elements were presented to the Alaska DOT and the City of Wasilla. Following discussions, construction drawings were prepared supporting the chosen options. In conjunction with the road design, trail locations and road drainage were coordinated including the creation of new wetlands to mitigate areas impacted by the new road alignment and manage stormwater.
